Taiwan has some of the best wind resources in the region and attractive natural geography for installation of offshore wind farms. Combined with the political trends, where the Taiwan government focus on development of renewable energy, which should replace 8GW of existing nuclear power by 2025. According to the national plans, Taiwan will have 0.5 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2020 and 3GW by 2025. These ambitious goals are supported by very attractive FIT comparing with China and Japan.
Taiwan is looking for cooperation with foreign companies, which can provide knowledge and solutions within the entire value chain, from project development, trough turbine supply, construction, installation and maintenance and the Danish experience can play key role in the future development of offshore wind in Taiwan.
